Water For Life Initiative

Every 8 seconds a child dies …

Today, eighty percent of sickness and death among children in the developing world is caused by contaminated drinking water, not the lack of food or medicine. According to the World Health Organization, a child dies from diseases related to contaminated drinking water every 8 seconds.

But this incredible loss of life can be changed! The vast majority of available clean water in many parts of the world is only 100 – 300 feet underground. Yet, those villages, communities and regions that need it most, lack the modest resources necessary to release its precious flow.

The Water for Life Initiative, in conjunction with GAiN Canada can reverse this crisis by implementing an aggressive well-drilling strategy to produce a life time supply of clean, healthy water at a one-time cost of $10 per person. Not only will this save lives, but the new water supply will also impact the local economy by creating new opportunities for crop irrigation and the raising of livestock. It’s a simple, cost-effective program that will impact a community for a lifetime.

Plan of Action

The Water for Life Initiative involves the drilling of fresh water wells in Asia and Africa at a cost of $5,200 per well, bringing life and health to approximately 500 people from each well. It will also link the fresh water project to a significant village, community or regional evangelistic outreach strategy and establish ongoing training and discipleship through the local church to ensure the
long-term success of the initiative.

The Water for Life wells will become a permanent fixture in the community, establishing sustainable living for all who live nearby. Not only will the wells radically reduce death that often results from the contaminated water in the region, but also, on another level, they will leave a lasting legacy that bears witness to your commitment to help and support the less fortunate.

Most importantly, through your involvement you will play an important part in transforming the physical and spiritual needs of the community.

Key Factors for Success

  1. Local Initiative – From the beginning local believers initiate the request for Water for Life and facilitate the process.
  2. Adequate Assessment – A team of specialists will study the water supply quality and potential and identify drilling sites for
    6 – 10 wells in a given community.
  3. Cost Effective Implementation – The initiative uses qualified nationals as contractors to drill and install the well and catchment basin to the specified standards.
  4. Trained and Equipped Local Believers –Local believers will effectively capitalize on the community initiative with appropriate evangelism and discipleship using the JESUS Film and other tools to reach the community for Jesus Christ.

Time Line

New Life World Aid is associated with a team of technical professionals and trained volunteers ready to begin the Water for Life Initiative as soon as funds become available. In each community, time is of the essence and it is our goal that wells are operational within three to six months of the “go-ahead” being given.

Projected Costs

In partnership with local believers and key ministry partners, we have an immediate opportunity to launch the Water for Life Initiative in Africa, India and China. This opportunity will provide 1000 wells at a cost of $5,200 per well.

Your Involvement

You are invited to help make this plan a reality by establishing your own Water for Life Living Legacy. This Living Legacy will provide an ongoing physical and spiritual impact beyond your lifetime as succeeding generations are blessed by your generosity. Your Water for Life Living Legacy will be recognized in the community through a plaque identifying your gift.

Levels of Participation

There are four main levels of participation that individuals can be involved in. These are:

  • $5,200 to develop one well
  • $20,000 to $100,000 to develop a Living Community Legacy
  • $100,000 to $500,000 to develop a Living District Legacy
  • $500,000 to $1,000,000 to develop a Living Regional Legacy

A fifth, specialized alternative for participation involves forming a partnership with several others of like mind to establish the Living Legacy at one of the four levels.

GIVE A GIFT NOW!

Project Summary: A two-fold blessing for the body and spirit

The Water for Life Initiative is the solution to disease, hunger, poverty and spiritual darkness for a struggling village, community or region.

The helpless victims of drought, changing global weather patterns and contaminated surface water need assistance in keeping themselves, their livestock and their crops healthy and alive. This initiative can aid the transformation of an entire community in more ways than simply building wells. The results are far-reaching: through sanitation and nutrition children can be helped to grow and develop normally, while being equipped for education; the community can break away from the cycle of poverty and be freed from the constant threat of hunger. This memorial will create a platform for on-going work that will change the lives and future of those it touches forever.

Further, the Water for Life Initiative will enable more doors to open to showing the JESUS Film and so give greater credibility to the Christian community. Greater credibility will lead to more churches being planted. Community members who do not already know Christ can know Him as their personal Savior and be nourished both physically and spiritually.

This is what the Lord says,
“I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death
or make the land unproductive.”

2 Kings 2:21 (NIV)
